The lot we picked, we picked for several reasons, but one of the 'perks' of the lot is very unique. When the developer started the subdivision a couple of years ago, they found a nest of bald eagles. They've protected their habitat and now there are 2 or 3 eagles living there. The view from our front porch will be 100 yards away from the eagles. We saw them several times while we were there, but we need a better camera to get closer shots.
Jordan was able to go with us this time, and he toured Gaston Christian School and took his entrance test. The school has since called and had very complementary things to say about Jordan, and they look forward to him starting in the fall. We are all three excited about this. Here is a picture of the middle school / high school building.
On Sunday we were able to visit a church in Gastonia. We definitely liked it, and Jordan met some kids that go to Gaston Christian. We will probably visit a couple of others when we go back. Monday we went to visit my aunt, uncle and cousin. They live about 100 miles east of Belmont. We decided to drive through uptown Charlotte and then came down Hwy 74 through Matthews and Indian Trail. After driving through there, Kathy and I were even more happy about our decision to live in Belmont. Traffic was very congested through there. The funny thing is, that's one of the areas that the relocation company really pushed as a great place to be. I'm sure it is for some folks, but no thanks. One of the realtors in NC said that Belmont was Charlotte's best kept secret. Every day I see more and more what he is talking about. I think we've made a great decision.
Moving day will be here before you know it! Jordan finishes school here the last week in May, and we're planning on first of June to be moved in to our new home.
